Short Biography

Dr. S.M. Saiful Haque is a distinguished legal scholar and Assistant Professor & Head in the Department of Law, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Daffodil International University, Bangladesh. A native of Feni, Bangladesh, Dr. Haque has over 15 years of experience as a faculty member, contributing to law, MBA, and other academic programs at various tertiary institutions across the country. Dr. Haque earned his Ph.D. in Law from TIU-WB, India, focusing on Street Child Criminality and Restorative Justice. His academic qualifications include an LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. in Law from the University of Chittagong, an MSS in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Dhaka, and a two-year Master’s in Peace and Human Rights Development Studies (MPHRDS) from the Bangladesh University of Professionals. With a career marked by academic excellence and commitment to justice, he continues to inspire future legal minds. As an accomplished researcher, Dr. Haque has published over 14 scholarly articles in SCOPUS-indexed and other prestigious peer-reviewed national and international journals. He has supervised more than 100 legal research monographs and projects at the LL.M. and other graduate levels, with several notable works currently in progress. His broad areas of specialization include children’s rights, human rights, criminology, taxation law, family law, private law, maritime and shipping law, trade law, property law, intellectual property law, and patent law. Beyond his academic endeavours, Dr. Haque is an enrolled lawyer, a committed human rights activist, and a pioneer in advocacy for street children’s rehabilitation in Bangladesh. He has been actively involved in street lawyering since 2009 and has been a staunch proponent of non-violence, human rights, and peace. His work integrates rigorous legal theory with impactful, practical initiatives, cementing his reputation as a prominent figure in law and social justice.
