Beyond Degree: Career Focused, Future Focused for the Youth

August 11, 2026

The Division of Research (DoR) of Daffodil International University (DIU) and the Green Earth Club of the Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management (ESDM), in collaboration with the Foundation for Earth & Resilient Youth (FERY), organized a training session titled “Beyond Degree: Career Focused, Future Focused for the Youth” on 11 August 2026 at Daffodil International University. The program received sponsorship support involving NBER, with skin’O serving as the Official Wellbeing Partner.

The training session was organized with the aim of equipping young people with a broader understanding of the opportunities, skills, and competencies required to navigate an increasingly dynamic academic and professional landscape. Bringing together students, academics, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals, the program provided participants with insights into higher education, scholarships, international opportunities, career development, innovation, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence (AI), and the changing world of work.

The session emphasized that academic qualifications, while serving as an important foundation for professional development, need to be complemented by practical skills and continuous personal development. Particular attention was given to adaptability, communication, creativity, digital literacy, problem-solving, practical experience, leadership, and lifelong learning as important competencies for young people preparing for an evolving employment landscape. Participants were encouraged to take early and proactive steps toward developing their professional identity, strengthening their skills, building networks, and gaining practical experience alongside their academic studies.

The program featured distinguished guests and speakers from academia, research, and professional practice. Professor Dr. Mohammed Shafikur Rahman, Associate Dean, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS); Dr. Md. Sarowar Hossain, Director, Division of Research; and Dr. Mahfuza Parveen, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, represented DIU at the program. Md. Faysal, Admin and Research Officer, NBER, and Mohabbat Hossain, CEO of FERY, also contributed to the session by sharing perspectives on educational pathways, career development, emerging opportunities, and the evolving requirements of the professional world.

A significant focus of the training was the role of artificial intelligence, innovation, and entrepreneurship in shaping future careers. The discussions highlighted the importance of developing an innovative mindset, identifying real-world challenges, exploring practical solutions, and using emerging technologies responsibly. Participants were also encouraged to view career development as a continuous process in which learning, experimentation, networking, and practical engagement play an increasingly important role.

Through this collaborative initiative, DoR, the Green Earth Club of ESDM, and FERY reaffirmed their commitment to supporting youth development and fostering a forward-looking culture of learning, innovation, and professional preparedness. The program encouraged participants to approach their academic and career journeys with greater purpose and to remain adaptable and prepared to contribute meaningfully to a rapidly changing world.
