Daffodil International University (DIU) successfully hosted the Research Award Giving Ceremony (RAGC) 2026 today at the International Conference Hall, Knowledge Tower, DSC. The grand event celebrated the outstanding research contributions of the DIU community and set a bold new vision for transforming academic research into patentable, commercially viable solutions that drive national progress.

The ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ayub Islam, Honorable Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Vice Chancellor of DIU, highlighted the university's firm commitment to fostering a vibrant and purposeful research ecosystem. 

Setting the strategic tone for the future, a special video message from Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, the Honorable Chairman of DIU emphasized a crucial shift in the university's research goals. He urged the academic community to develop robust systems ensuring that research at DIU is not only published but also patentable and commercialized, turning brilliant ideas into tangible products and services.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ayub Islam stressed the importance of applied and impactful research. He encouraged universities to strengthen industry-academia collaborations, focus on research for social responsibility, and produce knowledge that actively contributes the communities and influences national policy and solves real-world problems. 

Dr. Mahfuza Parveen, Director of the Division of Research (DoR), DIU presented a comprehensive overview of DIU’s research milestones. During her presentation on DIU’s research achievements, Dr. Mahfuza unveiled impressive statistics showcasing the university's rapid ascent in the global research arena. She highlighted that DIU’s research output has surged to 695 publications by mid-2026 building on a steady growth from 1,010 papers in 2022 to 1,487 in 2025 with a strong emphasis on top-tier Q1 and Q2 Scopus-indexed journals. Also, she noted that alongside managing 138 externally projects and maintaining a high proposal success rate, DIU researchers have secured approximately BDT 5 crore in competitive national and international grants over the just past year, significantly boosting global collaboration and impactful innovation.

The highlight of the afternoon was the award distribution ceremony. A total of 700 exceptional awardees including faculty members, researchers, administrative staff, students, and alumni were recognized for their dedication to academic excellence. Special awards were also presented for outstanding research achievements and poster competition winners, celebrating the creative and innovative spirit of the DIU family.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Professor Mohammed Masum Iqbal, PhD, Pro-Vice Chancellor of DIU. He congratulated all the awardees, praised their hard work, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the ceremony a grand success. 

The event was attended by a distinguished panel of university leaders including Dr. Mohammed Nadir Bin Ali (Registrar), Dr. Hamidul Haque Khan (Treasurer), Mr. Mominul Haque Majumder (Controller of Examinations), and Dr. Md. Milan Khan (Librarian), alongside Deans, Associate Deans, Department Heads, faculty members, and selected students. 

Through RAGC 2026, Daffodil International University reaffirmed its position not just as a center of learning but as a hub of innovation dedicated to shaping a smarter, more sustainable future for Bangladesh and the world.
