Daffodil International University (DIU) successfully organized a workshop on “Building Impactful Research: Topic Selection, Novelty, and Academic Research Strategy”. The session was conducted by renowned academician and researcher Prof. Dr. Mayeen Uddin Khandaker from Sunway University, Malaysia, who is also involved with DIU as Visiting Professor.
The workshop was focused on developing a strong foundation for high-quality and impactful research, emphasizing key aspects such as identifying research gaps, ensuring novelty, strategic publication planning, and aligning research with global challenges and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants gained valuable insights into the complete research process—from topic selection and literature review to manuscript writing and publication in high-impact journals.
The Honorable Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University Professor Dr. M.R. Kabir emphasized the importance of quality research, global collaboration, and sustainable academic excellence to strengthen DIU’s international ranking and reputation.
Dr. Mahfuza Parveen, Director, Division of Research, highlighted that while DIU has achieved remarkable growth in publications, the future focus should be on high-impact research, capacity building, expansion external collaborations and developing strong internal research ecosystems.
The session also encouraged faculty members to adopt effective publication strategies, target high impact Scopus indexed journals, and build national and international research collaborations. The interactive discussion inspired participants to think beyond quantity and focus on innovation, originality, and real-world impact in their research endeavors.
Overall, the workshop served as a significant platform to reinforce DIU’s commitment to becoming a globally recognized, research-intensive university, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and sustainable academic growth.
