Training on Research & Grant Writing Excellence

The Division of Research (DoR), in collaboration with the Office of the Advisor, Strategy and Innovation at Daffodil International University (DIU), organized a training program titled “Research & Grant Writing Excellence: From Fundable Idea to Measurable Impact” on 22 September 2026 at the Prof. Dr. Aminul Islam Seminar Hall, Knowledge Tower, DSC. The program aimed to strengthen the research grant writing capabilities of DIU faculty members and equip them with the knowledge and practical skills needed to transform promising research ideas into competitive funding proposals. It emphasized the importance of aligning research objectives with funding priorities, addressing clearly defined problems, and demonstrating how proposed research can generate meaningful and measurable outcomes.

The training featured Professor Dr. Gias U. Ahsan, Advisor, Strategy and Innovation, DIU, as the keynote speaker, and Md. Rasedul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), DIU, as the resource person. The sessions covered key aspects of research grant development, including identifying suitable funding opportunities, developing strong research proposals, establishing innovation and research gaps, designing effective methodologies, preparing realistic budgets, and understanding the criteria used by grant reviewers. Participants also explored the differences between national and international funding strategies, the importance of institutional and research partnerships, and approaches to demonstrating the potential impact, feasibility, and sustainability of proposed projects. The discussions highlighted how well-structured proposals can connect a clearly defined research problem with a feasible solution, measurable deliverables, and long-term benefits for society.

Dr. Md. Sarowar Hossain, Director of the Division of Research (DoR), was present at the program and delivered the welcome speech and vote of thanks. The training provided faculty members with practical insights into navigating the research funding landscape and developing proposals that communicate the significance, originality, and real-world value of their work. The initiative reflects DIU's continued commitment to strengthening research capacity, encouraging innovation, and fostering a sustainable research ecosystem that contributes to national development and advances in knowledge.
