The traction loads supplied by
the electric three-wheeler (E3W) vehicles in different drive cycles in
Bangladesh are determined and analyzed here. Four real-time drive cycles
have been developed; two are from a city, one from a suburban region,
and one from a village area. The traction power determination process
has been presented considering the features of the E3Ws and velocity
profile from drive cycles, along with additional information such as
passenger number and distance covered. The traction power is compared
with the motor rating to show the underload and the overload operation
over the drive cycles. The prospect of regenerative braking of the E3W
vehicles is explored, and the sensitivity of traction power demand
against tire rolling resistance coefficient is examined under the four
drive cycles developed.
