Abstract

The study evaluates various MCDM schemes to visualize the greatest suitable renewable energy origin for electrification in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. It analyzes several MCDM methods, including AHP, TOPSIS, COPRAS, EDAS, and MOOSRA, to determine the most suitable technology. The study includes multiple alternatives such as solar, wind, biomass, solar-wind, and solar-wind-biomass hybrid systems as potential resource options. A pool of sub-criteria facilities was first identified assessing technological, economic, environmental, socio-political, and other factors using expert judgments and opinions. Following the relative importance of these sub-criteria was done by AHP. Then each MCDM method was followed to select the priority for Renewable Energy Systems (RES) alternatives. The research analyzes the results obtained from each MCDM method, comparing their rankings and highlighting any potential discrepancies. By using this comparative method, the study offers a more thorough and balanced assessment of the suitable renewable energy source for Rajshahi. To further assess the rankings, a sensitivity study is performed for measuring the influence of changes in criteria weights on the final outcomes. The findings of the study are aim to deliver useful insights into the efficacy of different MCDM techniques for renewable energy source selection in Rajshahi. The insights derived from this study can enhance decision generation in the development and execution of green energy strategies in this region.
