Abstract

Despite the potential of Electronic Health Records (EHR) technology to enhance service quality and efficiency in healthcare, adoption rates remain low. This study aims to evaluate previous research on EHR adoption based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) model, determine the relationship between the TAM model and EHR adoption, and identify differences between developed and developing countries. A systematic literature review (SLR) using the PRISMA framework was conducted to ensure a high-quality and transparent process. Analysis of 14 prior studies revealed a scarcity of research using the TAM model in EHR adoption for both regions. This study also uncovered various relationships between the TAM model and EHR adoption in these countries. Behavioral intention was found to be a significant factor, with more influencers than other TAM factors in both developed and developing countries. Consequently, the results of this study enhance existing knowledge about EHR adoption in both contexts and provide valuable insights for policymakers to guide EHR adoption strategies and future action plans.
