Abstract

The rapid urbanization, industrialization, as well as overwhelming economic growth in the emerging economies hamper the environmental sustainability of the countries. Green Human resource Management (GHRM), integrating the environmental aspects into the human resource management elements, seeks to resolve the sustainability issues. This chapter highlights green recruitment and selection, green training and development, green performance management, green pay and compensation, and green workplace culture to analyze the GHRM practices for ensuring sustainable development in the emerging economies. Green human resource practices help in minimizing the environmental hazards associated with day-to-day operations in the marketplace. This study has analyzed the cases of the emerging economies like Bangladesh, India, Philippines and Nigeria to explore their sustainable economic growth, environmental protection as well as equitable treatment through their green HRM practices.
