This chapter is the output of a qualitative research project on activists and leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). Twenty respondents from different districts participated in hour-long semi-structured interviews and responded to questions ranging from political activism, the consequence of an absence of strong opponents, social life among student activists, and relationship with the parent party, Awami League (AL). From our findings, we suggest that BCL activists nowadays face more internal rivalry and clashes than external due to the absence of political rivals on the ground. And that even though BCL works as a facilitator for the political agenda of AL, the BCL activists are still dependent on the locally powerful AL leaders who determine their political activities, and thus their political career.
