Ineffective building information modeling (BIM) execution plans (BEPs) are a common but often overlooked source of disputes in BIM-based construction projects. Despite their significance, the challenges of developing ineffective BEPs frequently go unaddressed. To address this gap, this study investigates organizational strategies designed to address the development of ineffective BEPs. Through semistructured interviews with BIM professionals, the study gathered valuable insights, which were analyzed using thematic analysis. The analysis revealed fifteen subthemes and six themes of organizational strategies: BEP governance, BEP design, BEP implementation, conformance, capacity building, and connectivity. The study findings highlight the role that structured BEP development plays in minimizing disputes through enhanced communication, aligned project objectives, reduced project risks, and streamlined coordination. Project stakeholders can use the study findings to structure organizational strategies to address the development of ineffective BEPs. Nevertheless, this study contributes to the body of knowledge by being the first to investigate organizational strategies for BEP development.
