The term “green human resource management” (GHRM) is gaining prominence in academic and business domains. This study aims to assess the current understanding and trends in GHRM literature by analysing available articles and identifying causal relationships among GHRM practices and prevailing themes to pinpoint potential future research areas.
This study adopts a multi-method approach divided into two phases. Phase 1: Literature review and bibliometric analysis; Phase 2: DEMATEL analysis.
The comprehensive analysis of the literature is provided by the systematic mapping of this area by using bibliometric analysis to identify the most influential journals, countries, trending keywords and themes. The results of the cluster and content analyses provides a solid roadmap for future research in this field. The findings of DEMATEL provides the direction and magnitude of the relationship between the GHRM practices.
The review enriches GHRM literature by identifying core themes, emerging keywords, direction, magnitude and potential research directions.
This review goes beyond academia to encourage green behaviours, collaboration, education and accountability, all of which contribute to a more sustainable society. It supports strategic decision-making in various sectors by highlighting which practices drive sustainable outcomes most effectively.
This study uniquely integrates bibliometric, content and cluster analyses with DEMATEL to explore both thematic trends and causal relationships among GHRM practices. By incorporating expert opinions from multiple sectors, it reveals how core practices influence each other, extending the study’s relevance beyond a single industry.
