Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a major public health concern for women of reproductive age, especially in impoverished countries such as Bangladesh. Its occurrence is attributed to poor dietary intake, a lack of understanding, and socioeconomic status. Addressing these concerns through education and improved nutrition is critical to successful prevention.
The study aimed to examine the level of knowledge, dietary iron consumption, and associated factors influencing iron deficiency anemia (IDA) among women of reproductive age in Dhaka City, Bangladesh.
A cross-sectional study was conducted on 149 women of reproductive age to assess their awareness of iron deficiency anemia, daily dietary iron intake, and the impact of sociodemographic and socioeconomic factors on nutrition-related knowledge and practices. A convenience sampling method was employed due to logistical constraints. A formal power calculation was conducted for sample size calculation.
