Abstract

Voluntary tourism, where tourists perform voluntary work while traveling to new places, is gaining popularity. Assessing the effects of these programs is crucial to comprehending their efficacy and directing subsequent endeavors. AI provides cutting-edge instruments for assessing and evaluating the results of volunteer tourism initiatives. This chapter examines how combining data collecting, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and geospatial analytics with AI technology can improve the evaluation of these initiatives. We look at case studies showcasing AI uses and evaluate the body of research on impact measurement in volunteer tourism. The chapter covers AI's benefits and drawbacks, such as algorithmic bias, data privacy, and compatibility with conventional techniques. Recommendations for employing AI effectively in volunteer tourism impact measurement are offered, stressing best practices and future directions. This thorough investigation aims to shed light on how AI may revolutionize impact evaluation and enhance volunteer tourism programs' results.
