Purpose

This study aims to test the impact of blockchain technology readiness on behavioral intentions to use technology, along with the mediating role of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. This study also tested the moderating role of technophilia (TPL) on the relationship between perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use with behavioral intentions to use technology.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors used structural equation modeling using SmartPLS 4.0 to conduct path analysis for data analysis. Data was collected through structured questionnaires from employees working on different projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Findings

This study’s results confirmed all direct, mediation and moderation relationships. This indicates that blockchain technology readiness shows a significant impact on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and behavioral intentions to use. Likewise, the results confirmed the mediation role of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and the moderation role of TPL.

Originality/value

This research contributes to the current literature by highlighting the importance of TPL as a moderating component. Moreover, they offer stakeholders valuable perspectives that can be used to enhance the implementation of blockchain technology in supply chain initiatives.
