Abstract

The study examines the integration of zero landfill strategies in eco-friendly agriculture, focusing on reducing household waste with sustainable agriculture and proposing a two-bin waste separation management system for separating compostable and non-compostable materials in household waste management. We intend this study because Bangladesh, the most densely populated country in the world, with about 180 million people, faces various environmental risks due to the deterioration of sustainable waste management and the constant decrease in the fertility of agricultural land. We also explore how simple but effective household interventions can restore the lost fertility of agricultural land by ensuring the recycling of plastics, polyethylene products, and composting. We emphasized existing agricultural practices by investigating the role of grassroots involvement, public awareness, policy change, and technology in facilitating sustainable waste management. The chapter suggests scalable solutions to reduce reliance on landfills and promote environmental conservation, ultimately contributing to more sustainable agricultural practices in Bangladesh.
