The chapter examines the synergistic relationship among mentorship, practicum experience, and formal reflective practice in assisting future language educators in developing similar professional identities. This chapter, written in a conceptual review and using an interpretive methodology, presents a very valuable look at what it's like to be a pre-service teacher who has to deal with this complex relationship between theory and practice, and whose process of learning is guided by the research of the expert and the introspection of the subject teacher. The literature indicates that it is important to understand the interaction among these pedagogical elements and to build a strong, flexible image of oneself as a teacher, which is essential in the face of the current challenge to language teaching. This paper carefully explores the rationale and exposition of combining these three essential elements into language teacher training programs.
