Abstract

Modern technology and novel operations are transforming the halal food and beverage business. Ensuring halal integrity, transparency, and compliance throughout complex supply chains is crucial as the global halal industry grows rapidly across varied consumer segments. In globalised manufacturing and distribution networks, conventional certification and monitoring systems struggle with traceability, efficiency, and regulatory control. Digital systems improve producer, supplier, certification authority, and regulator monitoring, data integration, and coordination. These advances increase traceability, reduce non-compliance and contamination, and boost consumer trust in halal food. This chapter discusses how technology and innovation are changing halal food and beverage systems to improve halal assurance and meet Shariah and business needs. Industry practitioners, politicians, researchers, and certification organizations striving to understand and execute technology-driven revolution in halal food and beverage might learn from the conversation.
